DFF-International Postdoctoral Grant
Funds early-career Danish researchers pursuing two-year research visits to partner institutions overseas.
DFF-International Postdoctoral Grant sits under Independent Research Fund Denmark, the country’s independent research fund, which reports to the Minister for Higher Education and Science but makes its own peer-reviewed funding decisions. DFF’s 2026 budget is 2.2 billion DKK, and its mandate covers researcher-initiated work across all scientific fields. This call offers up to DKK 1.55 million excluding overhead for a two-year stay at a non-Danish research institution. Applicants need a PhD earned no more than three years before the deadline, a Danish institutional affiliation, and a plan that includes at least 12 consecutive months abroad. The call is annual, with the 2026 deadline set for November 5. The strongest applications are likely to pair clear research ambition with a credible mobility plan. DFF requires the applicant to be an early-career researcher and rules out anyone who has already spent 12 months or more at the proposed host institution within the prior three years, so the programme is built for researchers who can use an international stay to deepen a project rather than simply extend an existing appointment.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
