DFF-Research Project2
Backs senior researchers in Danish institutions to lead large independent basic projects.
DFF-Research Project2 is the larger companion to DFF-Research Project1 under Independent Research Fund Denmark. It funds researcher-initiated basic research at Danish institutions, but with a higher budget and a more senior target group. The call is aimed at intermediate and established researchers who want to lead a larger independent project rather than a smaller starter grant. The grant range is 2.55 million to 4.45 million DKK excluding overhead, and the eligible lead researcher must be at least eight years post-PhD. As with Project1, applicants must be based at Danish universities or research organisations, and the call is run annually. The structure keeps the same basic-research model but gives experienced applicants more room for staffing, data collection, or longer project design. The best fit is a project that already has enough scientific depth to justify a larger envelope and enough organisational maturity to be managed at scale. Applicants need a focused question, a realistic timeline, and a Danish host that can carry the work over several years. Compared with Project1, the bar here is less about entry into independent research and more about expanding an already credible research programme.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
