Villum International Postdoc
Funds international postdoctoral stays for Danish researchers with a focus on technical expertise.
Villum International Postdoc supports talented female researchers in natural and technical sciences at the PhD-to-postdoc transition. Grants of DKK 1–3 million fund up to three years (typically two years abroad plus one year returning to a Danish institution), covering primarily salary expenses with supplementary support for family relocation. The programme targets the career phase where female attrition is highest: only 18% of professors in technical/natural sciences are women. Applications are faculty-nominated: Danish universities nominate 1–3 candidates depending on institution size; candidates then submit a proposal (max 7 pages/20,000 characters), CV, budget, and support letters from both home and international institutions. Danish citizenship is not required. Review by the Working Group for Technical and Natural Sciences; decision ~5 months from submission.
