Villum FoundationDenmarkGrant

Villum Investigator targets experienced and internationally recognised researchers who have demonstrated groundbreaking work for 10 years or more. Grants fund up to DKK 30 million over six years for research at Danish universities (or GEUS), covering postdocs, PhD students, equipment, and project expenses — but not the investigator's own salary or permanently employed staff salaries. Applicants must devote at least 75% of total effort to research and education. The programme runs on a biennial cycle: the 2026 call closes 20 August 2026, with interviews in February 2027 and board decisions in March 2027 (~7 months total). Health, veterinary, and biomedical research is excluded by programme rules. Recipients must participate in the Villum Footsteps leadership programme (DKK 200,000 allocated within the grant).
