Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership Grants is a National Park Service program under the Land and Water Conservation Fund that finances new parks and the rehabilitation of existing recreation spaces. It is aimed at communities with 25,000 or more residents and gives priority to economically disadvantaged areas, while federally recognized Tribes, Alaska Native organizations, and Native Hawaiian organizations can qualify regardless of population size. The program uses a 50 percent non-federal match and is structured around annual rounds through Grants.gov. Eligible projects include parks, playgrounds, trails, community gardens, and connections between neighborhoods and recreation areas, and award rounds have recently ranged from $192 million to $254 million. Applicants need a project that stays in perpetual public outdoor recreation use and fits state recreation planning as well as LWCF rules. That makes ORLP strongest for public agencies and tribal entities that can assemble land, match funding, and a site plan with clear neighborhood benefit.
