Save America's Treasures Grants
Funds preservation of nationally significant historic properties and cultural collections in the United States.
Save America's Treasures is a National Park Service competitive grant program run with the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Launched in 1998, it supports the preservation of nationally significant historic properties and the conservation of nationally significant artifacts, archives, and collections. The program typically awards $25,000 to $750,000 per project, with a non-federal match required at roughly 50 percent. Eligible applicants include federal, state, tribal, and local governments and nonprofit organizations, and the preservation track and collections track are both awarded through Grants.gov under an annual cycle. The strongest applicants control a property or collection with clear national significance, because the program is built around work on National Register properties, National Historic Landmarks, or contributing sites in nationally significant districts. It has already made more than 1,300 awards totaling over $300 million, so it favors projects with a strong preservation case and a credible match.
