Horizon Europe EU Missions is the Commission's challenge-led call family under Pillar II, bringing together climate adaptation, cancer, climate-neutral and smart cities, oceans and waters, and soil actions. The 2026-27 work programme treats the missions as a portfolio of actions rather than as isolated calls. The route is grant-based and consortium-led, with legal entities from the Horizon Europe geography eligible to participate and non-profits allowed. The 2026-27 work programme points to typical project budgets of EUR 1 million to EUR 20 million for RIA and IA topics, with most mission deadlines landing on 23 September 2026 and a second wave on 21 September 2027; ocean and waters topics often sit in the EUR 1 million to EUR 8 million range. The best fit is a partnership that can turn a research result into visible public impact: resilience for regions, better cancer outcomes, cleaner cities, restored waters, or healthier soils. Strong bids align tightly to the mission goal and bring operational partners that can use the result at scale.
