Research Grants on Media, Communications, and Freedom of Speech

The Helsingin Sanomat Foundation distributes research grants year-round on topics related to media, communications, and freedom of speech. Decisions are made twice yearly, and applicants submit a two-phase application: first a concept paper (max 3 pages), then a detailed proposal if invited. Individual awards in recent cycles have ranged from EUR 17,500 to EUR 250,000.
