Heat Fund (Fonds Chaleur)

Funds renewable heat production and heating networks for businesses and local authorities.

Fonds Chaleur is ADEME's flagship renewable-heat fund and one of the agency's main structural envelopes for the energy transition in France. It sits alongside the circular-economy fund and France 2030 industrial lines, and its scale is substantial: a €370M annual base, plus a €85M low-carbon heat recovery plan and a €150M resilience plan. The fund also supports ADEME's push toward 32% renewable energy by 2030. The instrument is a grant. It supports renewable heat production facilities and heating or cooling networks for businesses, collective housing, and local authorities across France. Applications are rolling through the regional ADEME délégation, which makes the fund feel more like a standing operating channel than a one-off call. The best fit is a project that can displace fossil heat at scale, whether through a production asset or a network. Applicants who can show a practical route to renewable heat deployment and a regional counterpart inside ADEME tend to be better aligned than teams looking for speculative research support.
