Circular Economy Innovation Grant Scheme (CEIGS)
Supports circular economy initiatives in Ireland through grants for community sustainability organisations.
The Circular Economy Innovation Grant Scheme is an annual Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment programme administered with Community Foundation Ireland. It supports Irish circular-economy projects with a total annual pot of €650,000, and individual awards in the record sit between €40,000 and €50,000. The 2025 round closed in October 2025, and the next round is expected around September 2026. The scheme is aimed at social enterprises, voluntary and community organisations, and small businesses with fewer than 50 employees. It is not open to universities, research organisations, or individuals. Project themes in the record include food waste, plastics, single-use packaging, construction, textiles, and general waste, which gives the scheme a clear practical bias toward waste reduction and public awareness work. Applications go through the Community Foundation Ireland portal rather than directly to DCEE. CEIGS suits teams that can turn a narrow circular-economy idea into a visible, locally deliverable project within a modest budget. The annual rhythm means applicants need to plan ahead and enter with a concrete theme, a community-facing delivery model, and a clear explanation of how the work changes behaviour or reduces waste. It is a small scheme, but it is sharply defined and repeatable, which makes it useful for organisations that can move quickly on implementation.
