Collaborative Postdoctoral Fellowships Programme (CPFP)
Funds interdisciplinary postdoctoral fellowship groups in Ireland to grow collaborative health research capacity.
The Collaborative Postdoctoral Fellowships Programme (CPFP) is an HRB scheme for interdisciplinary health research training in Ireland. It replaced the earlier ARPP fellowships in 2026 and is built around consortia rather than single-fellow awards, with a university lead and additional co-leads spanning different disciplines. Each award funds three postdoctoral fellows for 36 months within a 42-month project, with €950,000 in direct costs per consortium. The programme is restricted to universities and research organisations operating in Ireland, requires a consortium, and expects non-academic stakeholder involvement where it adds value. The application runs in two stages, starting with a pre-application, and the 2026 round closed in December 2025 with decisions expected in November 2026. The best fit is a team that can use the fellowship structure to build capacity while tackling a defined health, public health, or social care problem. Clear cross-disciplinary alignment matters more than breadth for its own sake, and applicants that can show a strong research environment, named leadership, and a credible route from training to impact are closest to the profile HRB is seeking.
