Research Ireland Centres

Supports Large-scale multi-institution research centres of excellence with industry and international partnerships.

Research Ireland Centres are large-scale multi-principal-investigator, multi-institution research centres that act as hubs for national and international research collaboration. The programme was established in 2012 as the SFI Research Centres initiative and was rebranded under Research Ireland post-August 2024 merger. Fifteen active centres are listed: ADAPT, AMBER, APC Microbiome, BiOrbic, CONNECT, CÚRAM, FutureNeuro, iCRAG, I-Form, Insight, IPIC, Lero, MaREI, SSPC, and VistaMilk. The network has 812 global research organisation partnerships, 900 collaborative agreements, and involves 470 companies (230 Irish). New centre competitions are not currently open.
