GENESIS — Gen-Next Support for Innovative Startups

Funds technology startups in Tier-II and Tier-III Indian cities through partner incubators and matching investment.

GENESIS, short for Gen-Next Support for Innovative Startups, is MeitY's flagship startup scheme for widening the technology base beyond India's largest cities, with a clear tilt toward Tier-II and Tier-III ecosystems. It sits inside the MeitY Startup Hub portfolio, and MeitY says the wider startup platform has supported more than 3,600 tech startups with more than INR 212 crore in funding. The scheme carries a budgetary outlay of INR 490 crore over five years and an umbrella ceiling of up to INR 1 crore per startup. The working routes are delivered through partner programs: PILOT offers up to INR 40 lakh for DPIIT-registered startups with a working prototype or MVP and a full-time founder, while the Matching Investment Scheme offers up to INR 50 lakh for Indian private limited companies with at least 51 percent Indian ownership and registration in a Tier-II or Tier-III city. The cleanest applications come from founders who already have a working product and can align with a partner incubator or accelerator. GENESIS is built for startups that need structured capital and delivery support, so the strongest cases show registration, ownership, product readiness, and a practical plan for the local market they are trying to serve.
