KIAT International Joint Technology Development Program

Funds bilateral and multilateral industrial research partnerships between Korean enterprises and overseas agencies in Europe, the United States, Israel, and Asia.

KIAT International Joint Technology Development Program is KIAT's umbrella route for bilateral and multilateral industrial R&D cofunding with partners in Europe, the United States, Israel, and Asia. KIAT sits under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and uses the programme to connect Korean enterprises with overseas agencies through EUREKA, Eurostars, and country-specific calls such as Korea-France, Korea-Israel, Korea-Germany, and Korea-US. It also functions as Korea's EUREKA National Contact Point and participates in Eurostars as Korea's associate EUREKA status supports that channel. The instrument is a grant, with awards from KRW 200 million to KRW 3 billion for projects that usually run one to three years. Eligibility is built around a Korean lead enterprise, with for-profit applicants required and universities, non-profits, and research organisations allowed as partners. The scheme requires consortia, keeps registration and operations in Korea, and sets the technical band at TRL 4 to 8 with 25 percent matching support. KIAT also runs EUREKA Day Korea each year and has done so since 2011, using the event to line up partners before calls open. The active 2026 call list includes France, a strategic lightweight-materials track under EUREKA, and EEN Korea consortium recruitment, which shows how the programme works through concrete bilateral and network windows rather than a single standing application route. Teams fit best when they have a working industrial technology, a Korean lead, and a foreign counterpart that can move under a parallel call.
