KEIT Transportation Program

Funds automotive, shipbuilding, and software-defined vehicle technologies for Korean industrial consortia.

KEIT's Transportation Program is a 2026 industrial R&D track for automotive, shipbuilding, marine and offshore systems, and AI accelerator-based semiconductors for software-defined vehicles. The budget is KRW 561.9 billion, and the program is one of the areas where Korea is pushing hard on transport manufacturing and semiconductor capability. Projects generally sit in the KRW 500 million to KRW 5 billion range per year, with a median actual award of KRW 1.5 billion. The track is consortium-driven, favors Korean OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers alongside research institutes and universities, and uses annual rounds with Korean-language documentation. A 30 percent match is required. The strategic emphasis is on technologies that can move Korea closer to a lead position in software-defined vehicles and related transport systems. Teams that can coordinate a large industrial consortium, bring a realistic commercialization plan, and work at TRL 4 to 8 are the best fit. This route suits established vehicle, shipbuilding, and semiconductor players more than early-stage startups.
