Hydrogen Energy R&D Program

Offers Full hydrogen science and innovation, supporting long-term sustainable commercialization and growth.

The Hydrogen Energy R&D Program is KETEP's national track for the full hydrogen value chain, from production to storage, transport, utilization, and energy safety. Its scope includes water electrolysis powered by renewables, hydrogen extraction from natural gas and ammonia, high-pressure and liquid storage, refueling infrastructure, fuel cells for buildings and distributed power, and mobility applications across land, sea, and aviation. The program is open to Korean universities, research institutes, and companies, with applications submitted through IRIS. Public overview pages do not publish standard project amounts, so the practical reference point is the annual call rather than a fixed award table, and KETEP has highlighted 50MW-scale green hydrogen production initiatives as a priority signal. Applicants fit best when they can show a credible position in Korea's hydrogen ecosystem and a project that maps to a concrete sub-area rather than a generic hydrogen theme. Proposals are strongest when they connect technology, infrastructure, and safety in a way that matches KETEP's national R&D framing.
