Cash Grant for Foreign-Invested Companies
Funds foreign investors establishing strategic industry research centres or headquarters in Korea through a direct grant route.
The Cash Grant for Foreign-Invested Companies is MOTIE's direct support route for foreign investors setting up R&D centers or regional headquarters in Korea. It is tied to the Foreign Investment Promotion Act, requires at least 30 percent foreign ownership through newly issued stock, and is aimed at strategic industries rather than general relocation. Eligible support can cover up to 75 percent of costs in the strongest cases, with the broader program also supporting lower coverage tiers. The grant can help with land and buildings, construction or expansion, capital goods, research equipment, infrastructure, and employment or training costs. Standard support is lower than the top tier, which is reserved for the most strategic investment cases. Applications flow through Invest Korea at KOTRA and are reviewed by a MOTIE committee with government, technology, finance, and industry expertise. The route is strongest for foreign companies making a real operating commitment in Korea, especially in semiconductors, AI, and other advanced strategic fields where the grant can offset the cost of entry.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
