MOTIE Industrial Technology R&D
Funds major Korean industrial innovation priorities through annual ministry grants across strategic technology domains.
MOTIE Industrial Technology R&D is the main industrial research funding umbrella for Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. In 2026 it is set at KRW 5.5 trillion, and it spans advanced strategic industries, industrial AI, supply-chain stabilization, talent and global collaboration, and green process innovation. The framework covers semiconductors, secondary batteries, biotechnology, mobility, robotics, shipbuilding, AI adoption through the M.AX initiative, materials and parts supply chains, and hydrogen-based steelmaking. Delivery sits with KIAT, KEIT, and KETEP depending on the topic, so topic fit matters as much as the science for firms, universities, and research organizations working inside Korea. This is an annual grant umbrella rather than a single competition, and applicants succeed by matching the right delivery agency with the right industrial problem. The strongest proposals line up with one of the five strategic pillars and are prepared in Korean, because the ministry's materials and calls are published that way.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
