Build Our Future Grant Pilot Program
Funds innovation infrastructure projects in twelve technology sectors strengthening Maryland's ecosystem.
Build Our Future Grant Pilot Program is a Maryland Department of Commerce grant for innovation infrastructure projects that strengthen the state's technology ecosystem. It runs through June 30, 2027 and is limited to 12 sectors: advanced manufacturing, aerospace, agriculture, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, blue technology, cybersecurity, defense, energy and sustainability, life sciences, quantum, and sensors and robotics. The program offers up to $2 million per entity per year, with $7 million available in FY2026. Projects up to $1 million require 200% matching funds, while awards from $1 million to $2 million require 400% matching funds. Colleges and universities can receive no more than half of the annual appropriation, and the current cycle uses a two-phase application process. It is a fit for infrastructure projects that support an innovation ecosystem rather than direct research. Applicants are expected to show sector impact, funding leverage, and a plan that can be executed within the program's timeline, with funds expended within two years and property held for three years when purchased.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
