Edmond J. Safra Fellowship in Movement Disorders

Offers Edmond J. Safra Fellowship in Movement Disorders, supporting movement-disorder fellows with salary and career development support.

The Edmond J. Safra Fellowship in Movement Disorders sits under the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research and supports academic centers worldwide that train the next generation of movement disorder clinician-researchers. The fellowship is built around Parkinson's and related conditions, with a stated goal of expanding the global base of movement disorder specialists. The Class of 2029 offers 10 fellowships of $180,000 each over two years. The award covers fellow stipend, benefits, travel allowance, coursework, conference attendance, and educational opportunities, and no indirect costs are allowed. Academic centers may apply, and previously funded centers may reapply unless they were funded in the most recent round or are already training a fellow. The program fits centers that can combine clinical training with research development and can support a fellow through a full two-year term. Its strongest applicants are institutions with a clear movement-disorders platform, the capacity to deliver structured mentoring, and a plan to use the fellowship to build long-term specialist expertise rather than a short-term placement.
