Myeloma Investment Fund (MIF)

Invests in early stage myeloma biotech companies through venture philanthropy capital.

The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation's Myeloma Investment Fund is its venture-philanthropy arm, built as a wholly owned subsidiary rather than a grant program. It backs early-stage biotech companies developing myeloma therapies and technologies, and it sits inside MMRF's broader mission to accelerate better treatment and longer survival for patients. The fund has committed $23 million since its 2019 founding, with 21 portfolio companies and 17 still active. Six portfolio treatments have moved into clinical trials, and all returns are recycled back into the fund, which keeps the capital base evergreen. The investment model combines equity capital with strategic guidance, so the fund reads more like a patient-led venture platform than a traditional philanthropy vehicle. Access is direct and selective. There is no public RFP or open grant portal, and companies are expected to reach the team through outreach rather than a competitive deadline. That makes the fit narrow: for-profit biotech companies working on myeloma and able to engage as investment candidates, not academic groups looking for research grants.
