AI for Health is Microsoft AI for Good Lab's philanthropic health initiative, launched in January 2020 to support nonprofits, researchers, and other organizations working on health challenges worldwide. It sits alongside Microsoft Research's applied-public-interest work and has already partnered with more than 200 grantees worldwide. The program is in-kind only: applicants receive Azure cloud computing credits and Microsoft AI scientist collaboration time, not cash. Its work is grouped into Population Health, Imaging Analytics, and Genomics and Proteomics, covering projects from multi-sector data integration to clinical image analysis and disease-risk prediction. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis with no published deadline, and the fit is broad for nonprofits, academic institutions, and researchers focused on health challenges worldwide. The strongest proposals tie a clear health problem to data-driven methods, especially where the work can move from analysis to practical intervention. Applicants typically need a defined research question and a credible data or deployment pathway.
