PRONACES — National Strategic Programs (Programas Nacionales Estratégicos)

Offers PRONACES Programas Nacionales Estratégicos, supporting Mexico's national research programs for social, environmental, and strategic priorities.

PRONACES, or Programas Nacionales Estratégicos, is SECIHTI's umbrella for national research initiatives aimed at Mexico's most pressing social and environmental challenges. It organizes work across ten themes: water, food sovereignty, health, energy and climate change, socioecological systems, education, housing, culture, human security, and toxic agents and contaminating processes. Projects move through PRONAII sub-projects and are built around a participatory approach that values diverse knowledge systems, community experience, and public-private partnership. The program judges impact through both publications and practical action, with priorities aligned to Mexico's development agenda and the UN 2030 goals. It functions as a standing framework rather than a single open call. The strongest fit is a consortium that can work on a nationally relevant problem, show scholarly output, and demonstrate practical change in the field. Because the work is tied to large public priorities, proposals need a clear theory of change and a credible route from research to action. That combination makes it most suitable for institutions that can bridge academia and implementation.
