Nebraska Customized Job Training (CJT)
Supports Nebraska companies with workforce training grants to create and retain quality in-state jobs.
The Nebraska Customized Job Training program is the state's training-grant route for for-profit businesses that sell products or services outside Nebraska. It is aimed at employers that need workforce upskilling to create or retain full-time permanent in-state jobs in non-administrative roles. The program pays for eligible training costs such as on-the-job training, classroom instruction, tuition, fees, and materials. Businesses must receive an Invitation to Apply from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development before they apply, and they cannot incur eligible expenses before the award. Employers with fewer than 150 full-time employees can include wages, while larger employers can claim tuition, housing, transportation, and related costs but not wages. The strongest applications pair training with a clear employment need and a defined start and end date for the work. It fits companies that are expanding operations, keeping a skilled workforce in place, or bringing structured training into a new project with measurable productivity or retention gains.
