The CSIT SBIR/STTR Direct Financial Assistance Program sits under the New Jersey Economic Development Authority and is run by the Commission on Science, Innovation & Technology. It supports New Jersey small businesses that have already won federal SBIR or STTR awards, with a clear goal of helping companies convert federal traction into local momentum. Two funding paths are available: Direct Funding at USD 25,000 for Phase I, Fast Track, or Direct-to-Phase II winners, and Bridge Funding at USD 50,000 for Phase II applicants waiting on federal decisions. Round 5 has a USD 875,000 pool, applications are rolling, and firms generally need to be active New Jersey businesses with no more than five lifetime federal SBIR/STTR Phase I, Fast Track, or Direct-to-Phase II awards. The programme is a good fit for companies that already have federal validation and need operating support, commercialization help, or runway across the Phase I to Phase II gap. Because it is first come, first served among compliant applications, readiness and documentation matter as much as technical merit.
