New Mexico SBIR/STTR Matching Grant is NM EDD's cash support route for New Mexico for-profit companies that already hold an active federal SBIR or STTR award at Phase I or Phase II. It is designed to help companies turn federal research wins into local commercial progress, with priority sectors including aerospace, biosciences, advanced computing, water technologies, and advanced energy. The historical award range runs from $25,000 to $100,000, and the grant can be used for IP assessment, patent filing, lab testing, regulatory certifications, customer meetings, market research, and trade shows, with trade shows capped at 10 percent of the award. It cannot cover payroll, research and development work, minor consumables above $100, or equipment purchases. As of May 2026, no active application period was posted. The strongest applicants already have a federal award in hand and a narrow commercialization plan for the next stage of development.
