Battery in Zero-Emission Vessels (Batteri i nullutslippsfartøy)
Supports MNOK vessel for battery zero emission ships and dedicated charging infrastructure.
Batteri i nullutslippsfartøy is Enova SF's maritime route for battery-electric zero-emission ships and the charging infrastructure they need. It sits inside Norway's broader effort to decarbonize shipping, and it is open to vessel owners or long-term operators that hold at least a five-year contract. The program covers both new construction and conversion projects, which makes it relevant to operators modernizing existing tonnage as well as those ordering new vessels. The funding terms are unusually large for a sector program. Enova can cover up to 80% of approved additional costs for the vessel and up to 60% for dedicated charging infrastructure, with a hard cap of 100,000,000 NOK per project. Vessels must be registered in the NOR or NIS registers, and the applicant must meet the usual Norwegian state-aid and business-registration requirements. The program has run several rounds and was between cycles in the latest assessment. This route rewards projects that pair technical credibility with a workable charging plan. Because applications are competitively ranked, the strongest proposals are usually the ones with clear vessel economics, credible route operations, and a realistic port or charging arrangement. It is a good fit for operators that can tie battery adoption to measurable service requirements rather than treating it as a speculative retrofit.
