CLIMIT-Demo

Funds Norwegian carbon capture and storage demonstration projects to move technologies from feasibility into deployed outcomes.

Gassnova (Norwegian state company for CCS)NorwayGrant

CLIMIT-Demo is Gassnova's demonstration arm within Norway's joint CLIMIT programme, alongside the Research Council's R&D track. It backs CCS projects that move beyond lab work into piloting and demonstration, with long-term geological storage as part of the solution pathway. The scheme is managed by Gassnova SF and runs on a rolling basis. Recent awards show the scale: ZEUS received NOK 13.1 million, Olga REACH NOK 28.2 million, MACH-2 NOK 7.5 million, and IntoCloud NOK 11.9 million of a NOK 29.8 million project. Typical co-funding runs around 35 to 50 percent, while the Idea Study sub-scheme sits at up to NOK 200,000. The annual CLIMIT-Demo budget is about NOK 80 million. Applicants are usually industrial, research, or university teams developing capture, transport, storage, hydrogen-with-capture, monitoring, or direct-air-capture work. The process is simple rather than ceremonial: proposals go through Gassnova's secretariat, and the clearest fit is a project that can show how demonstration work will lower cost and de-risk deployment.
