Māori Health Research Projects (Rangahau Hauora Māori)
Funds Māori-led health projects in New Zealand to strengthen outcomes grounded in community priorities.
Rangahau Hauora Māori Projects sits in the Health Research Council of New Zealand’s Māori health investment stream and supports researcher-led projects aimed at better Māori health outcomes. The stream is governed by the HRC Māori Health Committee and is built around rangatiratanga, mana, tika, manaakitanga, and whakapapa. The stream includes Project Funding, Programme Funding, and Explorer Grants. For 2026, the project round followed the main HRC schedule, with expressions of interest from 14 Aug to 17 Sep 2025 and full applications from 6 Nov to 11 Dec 2025. The source material does not publish a separate award cap for the Māori stream. It fits New Zealand universities, research organisations, and non-profits working on health research shaped by Māori leadership and community priorities. Individuals and companies are not the target applicant base, and the annual cycle is better suited to teams that can build a project around the HRC calendar and the Māori Health Committee’s priorities.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
