Participatory Science Platform

Offers a legacy community-science platform model in New Zealand for region-level collaborative projects in South Auckland, Taranaki, and Otago.

The Participatory Science Platform was launched in 2015 to support collaborative community projects that bring together communities, science and technology to investigate locally important research questions. It ran in three regions — South Auckland (SouthSci), Taranaki (Curious Minds Taranaki) and Otago (Otago Science into Action). MBIE-administered government funding supported projects with scientific or technological value, pedagogical rigour, and strong community resonance. The page states that the Platform received MBIE government funding until December 2024. Listed here for catalog coverage of MBIE's historical science-in-society spend; regional delivery partners may continue some activities outside MBIE funding.
