Strep A Vaccine Fund

Helps Strep A Vaccine Fund to support catalyzing development of licensed strep vaccine prevent deaths worldwide.

The Strep A Vaccine Fund launched with $140M committed (target: $200M over 5 years) from partners including Good Ventures, Lucy Southworth, Patchwork Collective, Adam and Abigail Winkel, and three anonymous funders. It has made 7 grants to date. Strep A causes 600,000+ deaths per year — comparable to HIV and malaria — and no licensed vaccine exists. The fund pursues five pillars: advancing vaccine candidates through clinical trials; improving scientific foundations (immunology, epidemiology, preclinical models); seeding next-generation vaccines (antigen discovery, immunogen optimization); preparing the deployment pathway (regulators, policymakers, burden data); and ecosystem coordination. An Open Call for Strep A Vaccine Development EOIs is currently active.
