NCBR Strategic Programmes (Programy Strategiczne)
Funds Polish priority consortia in national challenge fields such as agriculture and energy.
NCBR Strategic Programmes are top-down grant competitions set under Poland's State Scientific Policy. The portfolio covers high-budget initiatives aimed at national priorities in agriculture, water, nuclear technology, medical research, information and telecommunications, advanced materials, social challenges, and energy, so applicants respond to state-defined problems rather than bringing open-ended topics. The 2026 schedule makes the active call structure concrete. AGROSTRATEG I carries a 300 million PLN budget and runs from late March to late August, HYDROSTRATEG V carries 200 million PLN from mid-April to the end of July, and NUKLEOSTRATEG I opens as the first nuclear-technology call with 150 million PLN in Q2 to Q3 2026. Older programmes such as BIOSTRATEG, STRATEGMED, TECHMATSTRATEG, GOSPOSTRATEG, INFOSTRATEG, and New Energy Technologies have no 2026 call listed and sit between cycles. The programme family suits research groups and consortia that can solve a defined national challenge on the state's timetable. Success depends on aligning with the published theme and call design, because NCBR is not using this channel as a general curiosity-driven research fund; it is directing large grants to specific public priorities with a fixed competition calendar.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
Funds strategic agricultural and food research partnerships in Poland focused on practical innovation.
Funds Polish water and hydrology research partnerships to strengthen infrastructure and climate resilience.
Funds strategic Polish nuclear research partnerships to build secure and long-term energy knowledge.
