European Chips Act — Portugal National Semiconductor Strategy
Funds Portuguese microelectronics and semiconductor actors to build capacity in advanced manufacturing and design.
European Chips Act — Portugal National Semiconductor Strategy is ANI's semiconductor and microelectronics support route under the European Chips Act. Portugal allocates €121 million through 2027 under Council of Ministers Resolution No. 12/2024, with ANI running the strategy alongside FCT and coordinating with the Directorate-General for Economic Activities. The notices use the AAC-ANI-CHIPS prefix under Ordinance 444/2025/1. The 2025 round included two iniciCOFUND calls, one for the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory and one for the Telecommunications Institute. The route is open to companies, universities, research organisations and nonprofits; individuals are excluded. The broader Chips policy context also points to pilot production lines, design platforms and quantum chips at European level, but the Portuguese route is the national implementation layer. This route suits Portuguese organisations working in semiconductors, microelectronics or related research infrastructure, especially where the project aligns with national strategy and a named call. Because the measure is active through 2027 and opens multiple times per year, applicants need to watch the ordinance-backed notices closely and match their proposal to the specific call scope. The strongest submissions will be those that fit the national agenda rather than trying to force unrelated hardware or research projects into a chips frame.
