FCT Research Projects in All Scientific Fields

FCT's Research Projects in All Scientific Fields is the Foundation for Science and Technology's flagship project call for Portuguese research teams across the full academic spectrum. The programme funds project-level work at universities, higher-education institutions, R&D units, associate laboratories, state laboratories, and private non-profit research bodies. Grant awards run from EUR 107,000 to EUR 1.07 million on an annual cycle. For-profit applicants are excluded, individuals are excluded, and the documentation is available in Portuguese and English. The funding can cover personnel, consumables, missions, dissemination, equipment, and other R&D costs, so the route is built for a defined research plan rather than a light-touch fellowship. The best applications will be anchored in an eligible institution, clear scientific aims, and a work programme that can be delivered within FCT's normal call cadence. The current calls calendar spans open, expected, and closed notices, which gives applicants a predictable annual entry point for multi-year research teams.
