KAUST Innovation Ventures (Saudi)
Backs technology startup teams in United States that are turning innovation ideas into reliable market-ready products.
KAUST Innovation Ventures is King Abdullah University of Science and Technology's venture capital arm in Saudi Arabia. It sits inside a $200 million tech-startup fund announced in October 2023 and backs founders turning KAUST science into commercial startups. The route is equity and convertible notes, not grants. Investments are open year-round and typically run from $100,000 to $700,000, with seed-stage checks up to $500,000 and early-stage checks up to $2 million. The program is aimed at pre-seed to early Series A companies that are operating in, incorporated in, or willing to relocate to Saudi Arabia, and that already have paying customers or early revenue. KAUST most often backs health, energy, food, water, and AI-enabled ventures, and it co-invests with regional and global VC partners. For founders, the important filter is not academic novelty alone but market readiness, technical depth, and fit with Saudi Vision 2030 and KAUST's broader commercialization agenda.
