Kraftlyftet — Power Production and Storage

Funds major investments in Swedish electricity production, storage, and renewable energy infrastructure.

Kraftlyftet produktion och lagring sits under the Swedish Energy Agency and supports major investments that strengthen Sweden’s electricity production and storage capacity when grid expansion alone is not enough. The program is aimed at capital projects that can reinforce supply security through new generation, conversions, or storage assets. The programme has a total budget of 4.21 billion SEK. Eligible applicants include companies, municipalities, and regions. Supported investments include converting heat plants to bio-CHP, adding new bio-CHP capacity, upgrading renewable-fuel gas turbines, building electricity or heat storage tied directly to renewable production, and improving small-scale hydro assets. Two deadline tracks are in play: a standard track that closed on 2026-05-07 and a bio-CHP track due on 2026-07-01. The application load suggests a finance-ready project case rather than an early concept. Applicants are asked for a supplementary form, timeline, liquidity calculation, net present value, and cost-benefit material, so the strongest submissions are those that can show capital need, timing, cash-flow logic, and system value in a concrete way.
