Synergi (Synergy Projects)
Offers research consortia uniting academia and industry on overarching scientific questions.
Synergi sits under KK-stiftelsen, the Swedish Knowledge Foundation that funds research and competence development at newer universities and university colleges in collaboration with business. The programme backs large, multi-project research efforts that are built around broad scientific questions and close academic-industry co-production. It is one of the foundation's main routes for work that needs several linked subprojects rather than a single isolated grant. Projects can receive up to 11 million SEK over 3 to 6 years. Each subproject must have at least two independent industry actors as co-financers, and industry support must match or exceed the KK grant. The programme is open to universities in KK-stiftelsen's target group in Sweden, with the annual call opening in September, a January deadline, and a May decision. Synergi is best suited to consortia that can organise several work packages around one research question and bring named business partners into each subproject. The foundation's model rewards co-production, so the strongest proposals combine academic depth with industry-backed relevance rather than treating companies as advisory add-ons.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
