MTC Young Investigator Research Grant
Funds early-career investigators with recent doctorates working in physical sciences and engineering in Singapore.
The MTC Young Investigator Research Grant (YIRG) supports early-career researchers with a PhD awarded no more than 7 years prior, holding primary appointments at Singapore publicly funded research institutions. Awards of up to S$325,000 per project (inclusive of 30% indirect costs) fund up to 3 years of independent, curiosity-driven research in physical sciences and engineering aligned with Singapore's Manufacturing, Trade & Connectivity sector priorities. Applications require endorsement from the Host Institution's Research Director before submission via A*STAR's iGrants portal. Slot quotas apply per institution: NUS, NTU, and A*STAR Research Entities each have 15 slots; other IHLs and public sector organisations have 2 slots each. The 2026 call is open 5 May – 23 June 2026.
