The New Idea Scheme allows businesses to test novel concepts within a customised regulatory sandbox when existing agency sandbox programmes don't cover their sector or business model. MTI co-develops the sandbox parameters with the applicant and connects them to the relevant regulatory agencies. This is NOT a cash grant. NIS provides regulatory facilitation — a bespoke, time-limited sandbox with real-time feedback. To qualify, the business concept must face regulatory obstacles (existing frameworks don't clearly apply) AND not fit current agency sandbox programmes. Last updated April 28 2026.
