The NRF Central Gap Fund (CGF) is a rolling translational grant that bridges the gap between early-stage research and market-ready prototypes or functional processes. Projects from any area of science and engineering are eligible. Awards go up to S$2M (inclusive of 30% overheads) over up to two years; projects exceeding S$2M may be considered case-by-case with stage-gating. The CGF accepts proposals throughout the year on a needs-basis rolling model. The Project Lead must have experience leading translation or gap-funded projects, and the team must include both technical researchers and a business development/management person. Eligible host organisations include A*STAR institutes, public hospitals, autonomous universities, polytechnics, ITEs, CREATE entities, and Research Centres of Excellence.
