NSTC (Taiwan) Research Fellowship for Researchers from Germany
Offers researchers and academic institutions through NSTC Fellowship for Germany, helping them access postdoctoral collaboration in Taiwan.
NSTC (Taiwan) Research Fellowship for Researchers from Germany funds highly qualified postdocs and experienced researchers from Germany to carry out a self-defined research project in Taiwan with a qualified academic host. The fellowship is administered through the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, with Humboldt pre-selecting applicants and NSTC making the final award decision. It is a cross-border research stay with Taiwanese academic hosting at the center. NSTC funds up to two stays a year, each for three to twelve months, and the placement can extend to a total of three years. The monthly amount is 85,000 NTD. Applicants apply in English through Humboldt, need German citizenship, a doctorate completed no more than 12 years before applying, peer-reviewed publication experience, and excellent English; some humanities, social science, and medical candidates also need Chinese where it is necessary for the research. The process is structured around an academic host at a Taiwanese research institution that has previously received NSTC project funding, plus two expert reviews and a mentoring agreement. Selection committee meetings are held in February, June, and October, applications are typically processed in four to seven months, and the strongest applications pair a focused research plan with a serious host relationship and a publication record that can carry an international fellowship.
