The InVent Fund is UCSF Innovation Ventures' philanthropic trust for advancing its most commercially promising discoveries through milestone-driven translational studies. Unlike the Catalyst Awards, InVent targets projects further along the translational path — those with established proof of concept and a realistic exit to VC-backed startup or licensing within one to two years. Funding is milestone-based and not transferred en bloc; disbursements are tied to a project manager-led work plan. Projects that received Catalyst Awards are automatically considered. The fund is currently NOT accepting applications (as of May 2026).
