ATI Programme Funding sits under the Aerospace Technology Institute and is the UK channel for civil aerospace research cofunding. The programme is tied to the UK aerospace technology strategy, has been extended to 2030, and is backed by up to £2.3 billion through 2035. It runs three streams: Strategic Programme grants of up to £18 million, SME Programme grants of up to £1.5 million, and Non-CO2 Programme grants of up to £18 million. UK-registered organisations and consortia can apply, and the process begins with outline submissions three times a year before a full application moves through Innovate UK’s Innovation Funding Service. The strongest applications show a civil aerospace project that fits the Destination Zero roadmap and can justify public support on value-for-money grounds. Strategic and Non-CO2 projects carry a 2.5% industrial contribution requirement, while the SME route requires at least half of eligible project costs to sit with micro, small, or medium-sized enterprises.
