ATI Strategic Programme
Funds for large-scale civil aerospace industrial research aligned with United Kingdom Destination Zero roadmaps.
ATI Strategic Programme is part of the Aerospace Technology Institute programme, Innovate UK's aerospace funding vehicle for civil aerospace research in the UK. It backs large-scale industrial research aligned with the UK Aerospace Technology Strategy and the Destination Zero roadmaps, so the programme is aimed at projects with sector-wide relevance rather than narrow point solutions. UK-registered organisations and consortia can apply, and the stream remains active through 2030. Grants can reach £18m, with applicants contributing at least 2.5% of eligible industrial project costs. The process is two-stage: an outline expression of interest through the ATI website, then a full application through Innovate UK's Innovation Funding Service. Stage 1 is assessed by ATI, while Stage 2 adds Innovate UK and DBT review for merit, strategic fit, and value for money. The programme suits UK teams with substantial aerospace R&D capacity and a clear case for strategic relevance, delivery discipline, and value for money. Batch 38 raised the cap to 60% of eligible industrial research costs, and the longer funding horizon gives applicants room to plan multi-year work. Strong proposals read as industrial programmes with technical depth, not one-off experiments.
