BBSRC Flexible Talent Mobility Account
Funds United Kingdom consortium models for research staffing placements that strengthen links between universities and businesses.
BBSRC Flexible Talent Mobility Account is a UKRI block grant for partnerships of at least two eligible UK research organisations. It supports staff exchanges and placements across academia, business, public bodies, and the third sector, including UK and international placements. Individual principal investigators cannot apply directly. The last round opened on 4 September 2023 and closed on 28 November 2023. That call carried a GBP 3 million budget, with awards of GBP 337,500 to GBP 412,500 at full economic cost and BBSRC funding 80% of that cost. The funded activity runs through April 2027, with quarterly disbursement subject to monitoring. The programme is aimed at postdoctoral researchers, technicians, and knowledge exchange professionals rather than students or PhD candidates. It works best for consortia that can show a genuine exchange need across sectors and a credible host partnership on both sides. No successor round was confirmed on the public page, so the current record remains tied to the 2023 tranche.
No upcoming rounds verified. Cadence: Biennial.
