BHF Discovery Research PhD Studentships
Funds doctoral students in the United Kingdom working on cardiovascular discovery with full support.
BHF Discovery Research PhD Studentships sit under the British Heart Foundation, the UK's biggest independent funder of heart and circulatory research. The scheme is aimed at named students undertaking cardiovascular discovery science at established UK institutions, and it fits the foundation's wider remit across heart disease, circulatory disease, and major risk factors. Each award runs for three years and covers a student stipend, home-rate tuition fees, consumables usually under £18,000 a year, and travel of up to £3,000. Applications are made by the supervising team on behalf of a named student, and the programme runs to two deadlines a year. The strongest proposals come from supervisors who can show the required research time, a permanent post for the studentship period, prior supervision to completion or near completion, and a second supervisor in place. Students already in post do not qualify for top-up support, so the scheme works best when the project, the student, and the supervisory team are all ready from the start.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
