The Welsh Government Future Proofing Fund provides match-funded capital grants of £5,000-£10,000 to micro, small, and medium businesses in Wales operating in the retail, hospitality, and leisure sectors. Welsh Government covers up to 75% of eligible costs (max £10,000); businesses contribute the remaining 25%. Premises must have a rateable value between £6,001-£51,000 and the applicant must currently pay non-domestic rates. The programme runs in periodic call windows rather than continuously. The most recent published window opened mid-May 2024 and closed in a 3-week window or when funds were depleted; project completion was required by 28 February 2025. As of May 2026, no new 2026 cycle has been announced — the programme is between cycles.
