Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult
Supports offshore renewable innovation in the United Kingdom through industry and research development partnerships.
Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult sits inside the Innovate UK Catapult Network as the UK centre for offshore renewable energy, with a base in Glasgow and sites in Blyth, Levenmouth, and elsewhere in the UK. It serves offshore wind and marine energy companies through a mix of research, test, and industry-facing programmes. This route offers annual grants of £50,000 to £2 million, with a median award around £300,000. It is open to UK offshore wind and marine SMEs, requires a for-profit applicant, and targets TRL 4 to 8 projects in offshore wind, tidal, and wave technology. The same project cannot be funded twice through the route. The best match is a company with a concrete technical problem that can benefit from the Catapult's engineering support and industry links. The programme works well for firms ready to move from concept to commercial demonstration, especially where supply-chain impact, manufacturability, or deployment risk is the main barrier.
