Clinical Research Funding Scheme

Funds investigator-led clinical cancer trials, experimental medicine, and sample collection pipelines.

Cancer Research UKUnited KingdomGrant

The Clinical Research Funding Scheme is a modular programme supporting high-quality investigator-led clinical cancer research. It comprises three interconnected modules: a Clinical Trial Module (phase 1a/2 to phase 2/3, feasibility, dose-finding), an Experimental Medicine Module (translational research associated with a trial), and a Sample Collection Module (hypothesis-driven prospective collection). Funding is flexible and module-dependent, with durations typically up to 10 years; applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for all three modules together as an integrated package. A 2026 spotlight call specifically targets gastrointestinal cancers of unmet need (pancreatic, liver, oesophageal, gastric). UK-based researchers only; all applications must coordinate with a UKCRC-registered CTU.
