Discovery Programme Award
Funds Discovery Programme Award, long-term cancer biology research programmes led by established United Kingdom researchers.
The Discovery Programme Award provides long-term support — up to £2.5m over 5 years — for established researchers to pursue ambitious, creative programmes addressing key questions in cancer biology. Proposals must centre on a core overarching vision explored through a set of connected aims; multidisciplinary approaches including imaging, radiotherapy, and novel technologies are encouraged. The scheme operates a closed, invitation-supported model: applicants must email discovery@cancer.org.uk before submitting an outline application, and the process runs through outline → shortlisting → full application → interview → committee review. Basic or early-stage translational cancer biology is in scope; clinical trials, drug discovery as sole purpose, early detection, and prevention are explicitly excluded.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
